Helen and Juho’s magical wedding weekend
In August 2024, Helen and Juho’s wedding brought together their loved ones from Finland and abroad at Iloranta to celebrate love throughout an entire weekend. Guests stayed at Iloranta from Thursday to Monday, enjoying the idyllic environment and carefully organized program. The magical weekend atmosphere was complemented by nature’s own gifts: a stork flew over the wedding ceremony, as if offering its blessing to the occasion, and as evening fell, the sky offered guests a spectacular show with northern lights and a shooting star. These moments created lifelong memories for both the wedding couple and every guest.

- Ceremony by the lake: The wedding ceremony took place in Iloranta’s stunning lakeside setting, a serene and intimate spot thoughtfully designed to create the perfect atmosphere for the occasion.
- Dinner in a historic barn: Wedding dinner was served in a 19th-century barn, which captivated guests with its historically atmospheric structures and beautiful decorations.
- Dancing under the stars: After dinner and touching speeches, the party moved to a garden-lit courtyard where the DJ’s rhythms and the magical August evening atmosphere invited everyone to dance. Decorative lights created a warm illumination in the twilight. A relaxed, joyful atmosphere and the northern lights made the evening unforgettable.
Guests also enjoyed two different cocktail events, a casual grill dinner, a long brunch, and Iloranta’s diverse services such as Finnish sauna traditions and cuisine, along with various recreational opportunities making the weekend truly unforgettable. One of the wedding’s most distinctive highlights was that all international and Finnish guests stayed at Iloranta, fostering a warm sense of togetherness, meaningful connections, and joyful celebrations that lasted the entire weekend.

In Iloranta’s kitchen, every meal is a tribute to Finnish food traditions. Our skilled kitchen team creates celebration meals from the best local ingredients, combining lake fish, forest treasures, and the season’s best produce from local farmers. Offerings ranged from traditional classics to surprising taste experiences, like Iloranta’s mushroom jam and herb pesto from our own garden.
Special praise was given to the carefully designed menus that catered to all dietary needs and preferences. Each dish highlighted pure flavors and exceptional craftsmanship, taking guests on a culinary journey through Finland’s rich and diverse flavors.
Rustic romance and playful tradition
Helen and Juho’s wedding was filled with small yet memorable details that left a lasting impression. One standout was the cowbell on the Red House’s roof, which took on a unique role in orchestrating the celebration. The bell rang to signal important moments, such as when it was time to gather by the lake for the ceremony. This charming tradition delighted guests adding a touch of rustic romance and fun community spirit to the event.

Helen and Juho organized their celebration at Iloranta from abroad using a “Destination Wedding” principle, demonstrating how smooth event planning can be with professional organizers and partners. “There was no request too large or small; they were all considered at Iloranta. Everything was handled seamlessly and stress-free”. “Our guests were especially captivated by the delicious food, cozy accommodations, authentic ambiance, and the perfect harmony of the Finnish sauna and serene lake views,” the couple shares.
In addition to Iloranta, wedding planner Micu Mäkitalo from Juhlakirsikka and her team managed advance planning, and wedding decorations. From the officiating priest onwards, all services were arranged effortlessly on-site, facilitating the celebration’s smooth flow. The wedding planner’s involvement enabled stress-free event organization from abroad, and the day became exactly as the couple had dreamed. Photographer Laura Karlin captured the most touching and memorable moments.
